Re: M. M. Parsons materials in private hands?

Here's another example from the files at PG:

Lieutenant Charles Huff, Company G, 19th Iowa-
On Battle Ground of Prairie Grove, Ark., December 7th, 1862

At present amid confusion and the scarce ceasing conflict of arms, I am unable to make any definite minutes of to-day.

From the chaos of excitement attending a scene of battle and while holding a portion of the field on which the engagement of to-day has taken place, while groups are sitting around, each relating his story of horror, I am writing.

Since 12 o'clock to-day, the battle has raged in fury. Artillery from each side has played forth its messengers of destruction. The infantry has poured forth a continued quick succession of volleys.

This one is from Benjamin McIntyre, Company A, 19th Iowa-
On Battle Ground of Prairie Grove Dec 1862 Sunday 7th

At present amid confusion and the scarce ceasing conflict of arms, I am unable to make any definite minits of the battle of today.

From the chaos of excitement attending a severe battle & while holding a portion of the field on which the engagement of today has taken place and groups of soldiers are sitting around each telling his story of the transactions of the past six hours.

Since 12 m today the battle has raged with fury - Artillery from each side have played forth their messengers of death - the infantry have pourd forth a continuoued quick succession of volleys

Guess they didn't receive much in the way of scholarly principles in their edjumications.
