I'm posting on this thread to learn what I can about the 8th Arkansas. MyGGGrandFather, William R. Carter, served in Company A, having enlisted at Jacksonport in July 1861. His muster rolls show he was a Sgt in old Co. K and then a Pvt in new Co. A. William R died in 1892, his widow stated on her pension application .. "he was wounded twice during the war...this and the measles, I think, was the cause of his death".
