Would it be fair to surmise that the reason that nothing substantial has been written about the 8th is the fact there was no one left. This unit had the highest losses of any unit in the War. My GGGreat Uncle (Jasper Massey)was in Company B and killed at Shiloh, most probably in the "Hornet's Nest" charge.
