Actually, Doyle, you are the most "expert" person I know of regarding ops on the lower Arkansas, including the Little Rock campaign. Your analysis of the strategy and tactics involved is far more sophisticated than anything that has appeared in print, in my admittedly uninformed opinion.
I'll second that! Doyle has posted some of the finest material on the war in the Lower Arkansas River area, and this latest thread is a good example. I'm going to have to print out Doyle's latest posts so I can curl up with a toddy and study them in depth.
