Parole lists

In working on my 9th Alabama database, I have run across a number of soldiers who were captured, paroled, and released from prison after Gettysburg in 1863 (and those through the fall of 1864). Most of them do not seem to have rejoined the 9th, and are generally listed as absent for the rest of the war (at least through 1864). Does anyone know if these paroled men generally "honored" their paroles and went home? These were soldiers who were paroled and not exchanged. The seriously wounded or sick were generally exchanged, but I am not including these. I have found a couple of soldiers who remained in Richnond to the end of the war, or who did rejoin the 9th in the trenches at Petersburg.

Also, is there a list of the Alabama soldiers who were paroled AFTER they returned home the war- the ones who were not captured or paroled at Appomattox? If so, were these lists kept by the state or by the individual counties? Any help would be appreciated.
