Starke's Brigade, Chalmers' Division, attacked Wilson's rear guard [72nd Indiana Mounted] on the Summerfield Road near a creek northwest of Selma on April 2, 1865. Someone more knowledgeable might be able to identify the creek and actual location where the engagement took place. An account of this engagement can be found in the "History of the 72d Indiana Volunteer Infantry of the Mounted Lightning Brigade." Davenport's Battalion was part of the 6th Mississippi Cavalry, which was in Starke's Brigade.
