Mr. Pitts, I am trying to research a Jesse E. Murphy confederate soldier for a friend. Alabama archives has him listed as being in Davenports Bn. from Mississippi. Has him wounded gunshot April 2, 65 Selma hosp. Discharged April 12
His ancestor thinks he fought at Shilo. I find little of him in census or anywhere else. Many murphy's on Davenports muster roll but no Jesse E. nor Jesse nor J
Ancestor said he lived at Oak Grove Al but I find nothing of that either.
Were elements of Davenports at Selma? Any help would be appreciated.
The family does have some letters from him.
