I believe there maybe more than one "Davenports Battalion". Mont (Montuville) was my Great great great Uncle and lived in DeKalb Co. in Eastern Alabama. He enlisted as a private in the 5th Tn Calvary (McKenzie's) and ended as an Adjutant. In the "ORs I believe mentions Davenport's Battalion's where he is listed as a Major. I do believe he served as a Partisan Ranger possibly with the 19th Alabama before joining the 5th Tennessee. His brother R.R. Davenport was Captain of Co. F 9th Alabama Calvary (Malone's)
