Don't know the exact locations, but these probably were located on public property near the rail lines at Auburn and Huntsville. One or both had probably been used as a fairgrounds, racecourse or militia assembly ground. Both were temporary sites, not designated for training by the War Department. Since both locations were used by state volunteers, sites must have been selected by Governor A B Moore. Governor Moore turned regiments assembled at these site over to Confederate service after they organized.
