KarenWilliam Jasper MatthewsWed Nov 15 22:55:15 2000 I have recently come across a letter that lists William Jasper Matthews serving in the Civil War. This is the information:"Jasper Mathews stumped Jackson County, Alabama, in opposition to secession, but when the state went out of the Union, he made up a company which was called Company J (?). He was very proud of Company J (?). He married Mary Anderson."The handwriting looks like it is Company J, but I cannot find any records.Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks,KarenCompany J (very long) Hayes Lowe, Thu Nov 16 13:46 William Jasper Matthews Karen, Thu Nov 16 15:26 Great!
