Hi Karen,

I was interested to see that your ancestor was a Captain of Company "I" of the 17th Tennessee Infantry. I also have an ancestor who was a member of this unit and was from Jackson Co., AL. His name was Monroe Willoughby and he served as a private.

I'm also searching for Monroe's father, a Volney Fleming Willoughby, also from Jackson Co., AL. Can you tell me anything more about the letter you referred to and do you have access to additional information for Jackson County?
