If the truth be known practically all men who had any family at all in the South in the period are eligible for active SCV membership. You can enter on collateral (GG Uncles etc.) ancestors as well as direct. Even if you can't find an ancestor that was honorably discharged from CS service you can join as a nonvoting member.
