Chris NelsonMoreheadTue Feb 20 15:35:56 2001 As I understand what you're saying, then, Love obtained recruits under Morehead's direction; that is, Love actually beat the bushes while Morehead was an administrator. Was Morehead also responsible for overseeing Companies B and C but died before they were formed? In other words, unless M was in charge of raising more than one company, what purpose could he have served, for Love could have reported directly to M's superior? A hint may be forthcoming from the Troy Public Library, which is pursuing this. Thus far they have found two newspaper references to M: one to his illness beginning in late October '63 (accompanied by instructions as to whom former subordinates were to report)and one late next year asking any claimants to the "former Pike County resident's estate" to come forth (I haven't seen these yet; the content was verbally summarized over the phone). The library hasn't found an obit or death notice unfortunately, but they have sent an inquiry to the local county courthouse. They seem to agree, based on what they have found thus far, that M probably died in Troy.Conscript Bureau Alan J.
