Here's the link for the letters that include the statement "Old Mens Regiment". This man was a Captain in the 62nd AL Inf., so your theory of the 63rd being the Old Men's Regiment could be correct.

This is an excellent grouping of letters from a member of the 1st AL Reserves (63rd AL).
