Co D, "Gulf Rangers" 4th Confederate Inf Rgt
was organized at Geneva in then Coffee, now
Geneva County Sep 14, 1861 under the command
of Capt Henry Wesley Laird; Isham D., age 48,
James M., age 21 and Marcus (Marquis L.D.)
Crews, age 20 were among the original enlistees;
I don't know the mechanics, maybe Alan can help
but I believe it was originally a company of
the 1st Ala, Tenn and Miss Infantry Regiment;
the company roster can be found at NARA on
Microcopy #258, Rolls 64, 65 and possibly 66.
