Well, an interesting mystery. If you have seen the headstone, why don't you know where he's buried? Anyway, there is a "J. B. DAVIS, a private in Co. "C" who enlisted from Oxford, AL, 1 Jan 62. Could you have misread the company designation on the stone? There is apparently no one who's surname begins with D in Co. "G" who's given names correspond to J. B. that I can find.

I checked surnames beginning with J also and could not find a match.
