I friend of mine was tearing down aa old store in Madison, Georgia and several headstones had been used as a foundation for the floor. He brought this one to me and I have had it for a while.

It could be a C. The exact designation is:

Co. C. 55th. Ala.

The headstone is approximately 24 inches long, 8 inches wide and 2.5 inches thick. The periods look like little x's.
