Ward's Raiders

There were two Ward's Raiders who operated
in SE Ala during the late unpleasantness;
Jim Ward who teamed w/ the 1st Fla Cav (US)
and terrorized the countryside in Coffee and
Covington; and "Speckled John Ward" of Dale
who operated in much the same manner but on
a smaller scale, confining his deppredations
mostly to Dale; the majority of those in the
1st Fla Cav who teamed with James Ward were
from Dale and nearby counties.
