Can anyone suggest where I may find records on my great uncle, James Whetzel, of Hardy Co. WV. He was a member of the 14th Reg. Virginia militia Company A. I find him in the 1860 census but not the 1870 one, which leads me to assume he perished during the Civil War. I would like to know the details of his death if in fact he died.
