You are so correct. Makes it difficult for those of us that are trying to do detailed research on Confederate doctors [PACS]. I seem been able to find more information when the doctor was on staff at one of the General Hospitals. Most of the best information I've found has been in secondary sources, such as letters and personal journals or diaries. Of course, these items were kept in family collections and did not go by the wayside with the captured medical records.
