My James Aaron Brooks was born in Tennessee, I went to Tenn to see for myself what Military marker is at the foot of James grave, I have posted a picture of the Military marker at the foot of his grave. I looked through the J brooks (U.S., Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963) but My James died in 1912, not sure where to look now. 1925-1963 is there more dates to look through. I think if I found the Application I could sort this out..

The James Co A 56 Reg died in 1865

Enlisted on 7/26/1864 at Mecklenburg, VA as a Private.

On 7/26/1864 he mustered into "A" Co. VA 56th Infantry
He died of disease on 7/1/1865 at Halifax County, VA
(Brought home sick from prison and never left his bed.)

my James died in Jan 1912

NOTE: My James is alive in 1910. Here is my James in 1910 with his wife Willie and in Coffee County, Tennessee, and it shows the 1910 census with his wife.
