Looks about right ! Says he " deserted in 1865 " He would have to been home in order to kill Harmon McCoy in Jan.65. Here's Ellison Hatfield whose murder by the McCoy brothers started the whole mess ! Thanks for your input !!!!

Residence Logan County WV; a 21 year-old Farmer.

Enlisted on 5/1/1863 at Logan County, WV as a 2nd Lieutenant.

On 5/1/1863 he was commissioned into "B" Co. VA 45th Battn Infantry
He was Dropped from rolls on 3/3/1865
(Prior service in Co. I, 2nd VA State Line)

He was listed as:
* On rolls 4/1/1864 (place not stated)
* AWOL 12/19/1864 (place not stated)
* Paroled 5/4/1865 Charleston, WV

He was described at enlistment as:
5' 10.0", dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair

Other Information:
born in 1842
died in 1882

(Killed by members of the McCoy family as a result of
a lawsuit victory over Randall McCoy, started the
Hatfield-McCoy feud.)
