Letter in hand shows name as "Shendon Newman". He is identified as being wounded in a list along with Conway and Reuben Newman. Both of these men were wounded 27 June 1862 at Gaines' Mill; presumably Shendon was also.
Both Conway and Reuben are listed in Riggs' 13th VA Infantry. However, no S. Newman is listed.
Scott's History of Orange County lists an S. M. Newman. Is this Shendon?
