Re: John Rader Company I, Virginia 7th Cavalry Reg

This is the only report of that action I could find in the Official Records.

Rosser's Brigade of Cavalry

Brig. Gen. THOMAS L. ROSSER.

7th Virginia, Col. Richard H. Dulany.
11th Virginia,----- -----.
12th Virginia. Lieut. Col. Thomas B. Massie.
35th Virginia Battalion, ------ -------.

O.R.-- SERIES I--VOLUME XXXVI/1 [S# 67]

MAY 4-JUNE 12, 1864--Campaign from the Rapidan to the James River, Va.
No. 298. --Report of Capt. R. B. Kennon, Assistant Inspector-General, of operations May 5. pp. 1098/9

CATHARPIN ROAD, May 5, 1864.

GENERAL: Brigadier-General Rosser directs me to say that he met the enemy (reported to be Kilpatrick's old division) 2 miles below Allmand's. He charged the picket and drove it back on the reserve, and the reserve back on the main body. Finding them strongly posted and in superior force, he was compelled to fall back slowly, and is now fighting about where he first met them this morning. He has taken a few prisoners and horses; lost no prisoners, but have had some killed and wounded.

Very respectfully, your obedient servant,

R. B. KENNON,
Captain and Assistant Inspector-General.
