Good catch on the Wigington spelling. My maiden name had the Wigginton spelling so that is my "default". I am currently chasing info on over 140 Wigginton men of all spellings who fought in the Civil War. Given that magnitude and the vast number of spellings, I haven't tracked which spelling was used by each man. I have seen numerous accounts of the same man showing multiple spellings on his CMSR.

Keith, thank you for your offer regarding your upcoming visit to Staunton. If it is convenient and you are there looking anyway, could you take a quick peek for this man in their records? (Or do you know if their records are on-line anywhere?) If you happen to get any pictures of the cemetery or of the hospital (now the Deaf and Blind School), that would be great, too. If by any stretch of the imagination, Ancel's grave is marked and you have a chance to locate it, I would love to have a picture of his marker. As part of my project, I am compiling any photos that I come across pertaining to "my boys". Don't worry if you don't get a chance to chase all this around - I am asking a lot, I know. If nothing else is possible, do a follow-up post on this thread and tell us all about your visit. Would love to hear that!
