Re: 25th North Carolina Burial Place

Hello Elaine

For 8 years now I have been working on the burials in the Confederate section of the Oakwood cemetery in Richmond. To date I have gathered 11000 names of men buried there, your ancestor is one of them, I show James P Lance of the 25h NC, Company H in grave BP102. As with almost every soldier there he does not have a grave marker but he soon will, I am with the Sons of Confederate Veterns and after 14 years of negotiating the city of Richmond has given us a contract to maintain the Confederate section, this contract should be finalized on August 1st 2009 and will allow us to order a headstone for each soldier.

For more information on this project check the SCV Division web site at http://www.scvva.org. and click on "Oakwood Cemetery"
Your ancestors grave is near the monument, please feel free to contact me at johnk1861@yahoo.com and I will be able to lead you to the exact location.

Best Regards
John Kindred
