I could not find him in the CSR roster of the 5th Virginia in the database I have access to.

The Virginia Regimental History Series records him in Company C, not I.

However, if you're sure of his being in Company I, the U. S.Army Military History Institute, Carlilsle Barracks, Pa, possesses a copy of the roster of Company I which may contain information on him.

On 3/1/1862 he mustered into "C" Co. VA 5th Cavalry
(No further record)

born in 1825
(Died in service, as written on wife's pension application.)
