Thanks for the details. I was able to finally obtain a copy of the service record for Luther Poole, 27th SC. The last entry for the record shows his discharge from the Jackson Hospital in Richmond on 11 October 1864. He had been admitted on 1 October 1864. The entry states that he returned to duty.

I am wondering if there is any possible information on where he was killed or more likely, where he is buried if he has an unique gravesite.
