Re: Willie Mitchell, killed at Gettysburg.

A William L. Mitchel was a Private in Company D of the 1st Virginia regiment and was killed July 3 in Pickett's charge. He was buried on the Nicholas Codori farm and probably sent to Hollywood cemetery in 1872 as an unknown soldier. He was actually part of the color guard of his regiment at Gettysburg and was killed while carrying the flag during the advance. In 1863 he was either 16 or 19 years of age. He enlisted on 3 November 1862 at Culpeper Court House, Virginia.
