J. J. Patterson, Private, Capt. P. W. McKinney’s Cavalry Company, Virginia Volunteers,* enlisted March 10, 1862 at Buckingham by Capt. McKinney for 3 years or the war, last recorded present at the May/Jun, 1863 muster, no further records

Note, he must have been dropped from the rolls for some unknown reason on the missing Jul/Aug, 1863 muster roll as his name does not re-appear on subsequent bi-monthly rolls. May have been a casualty at Gettysburg.

* This company subsequently became Company K, 4th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry
