Hi. This is an old post, but I wanted to provide you with information about another member of the 48th Virginia's Valley Brass Band. My forefather Hiram Edward Hatfield, born June 30, 1841 of Bridgewater, was in the Valley Brass Band. You can find many of his letters online at the College of William & Mary website. You will have to look through the letters dated from 1861-1864 to find Hiram's letters to his sister Emma Virginia.
