Thanks for your reply on Nick Mays. Info you provided pretty well matches what I already have from a family source. His dates, however, do not match. This Nick was born around 1840-45 and likely died between 1910-20 based on census records. Do you have a source for his birth/death dates found in the records to which you have access? I have not found another Nick Mays in Nelson records so I don't think we are dealing with two different people. Also, he had two brothers reportedly killed in the war, William H. Mays and John Mays. One in 1864 and the other in 1865. His father in law, John Henry Johnson, also served.
