The 21st Battalion Virginia Infantry (also known as the Pound Gap Battalion, Thompson’s Battalion, and the Special Service Battalion) was organized in the fall of 1861 and was reorganized April 16, 1862. This battalion was consolidated with the 29th Battalion Virginia Infantry to form the 64th Regiment Virginia Infantry in November 24, 1862

Note: There appear to be no subsequent muster rolls in the records for Diamond’s Ky Cavalry
** This company subsequently became Company F, 10th Regiment (Diamond’s) Kentucky Cavalry
