Hello, Mr. Price:

Sorry, I was also curious as to whether or not Mr. R. A. Howard delivered the beeves to New Iberia as per the stated contract. I searched ahead in the newspapers for the whole following year, but to no avail. Couldn't find anything else on this topic, merely reprints of the original item. I'm sure there is a record somewhere, just not in the papers. Perhaps Mr. Greg Biggs (who writes mainly on the TN board) would know something of this, as he has all of Gargis' records and various other commissary and supply records.

I do know that later in the War, when Hood was in TN and needed supplies for his men, some Texans attempted to swim some beeves across the Mississippi River.
