Re: Abel Green Baggett, Bachelor Rifles,TST

Hi Irin, This is awesome! I now have much more information on my Baggett ancestors than I ever knew existed. Malissa (Abel's daughter) was my paternal grandmother. I've begun to check on them and have already found out that Abel's brother,Abraham C. served with the Union Army. He enlisted in Moultrie County,Ill. in Co.C, 126th Ill.Inf. USA as a private on 8/18/1862 and died at home in Sullivan,Ill. on 5/26/1864. The company records don't indicate what he died of,possibly disease or wounds. He was 35 years old. His widow, Mary, was granted a Union veteran's pension in 1868. My ancestors served on both sides in the civil war. It really was brother against brother. I always knew that my Baggett ancestors were from Franklin Cty.Tenn, but it seems that most of Abel's siblings went to Illinois prior to the war. Abel went to Texas. I will continue on that track to see where it leads. Also,I would appreciate a copy of "Project Preservation Winchester,Tn. #1870-647 file." The name "Don Weaver" doesn't ring a bell with me,but I will also research him as well. Again,I am indebted to you for opening up this very interesting chapter on my ancestors. Thank you. Regards,Charlie.
