George F. Hartley, Private, Company E, Likens’ Battalion Texas Volunteers,* enlisted March 29, 1862 at Beaumont by Maj. J. B. Likens for the war, employed at Sabine Pass on extra duty as Teamster, August, 1862, admitted General Hospital, Houston, Tx. August 24, 1862, returned to duty next day, remaining absent through December, 1862 when last mentioned, among troops of the Trans-Mississippi Department, surrendered by Gen. E. Kirby Smith, paroled July 6, 1865, resident of Alleyton, Texas

Note, It would appear that he had been dropped from the rolls for an unknown reason, sometime during the first six months of 1863 as his name does not appear on Company E’s muster roll for JulyAugust, 1863 or later muster

* This organization subsequently became Spraight’s Battalion Texas Volunteers
