John Thompson and Cullen Baker of Bowie County

Just looking for an expert about Bowie County post-war and Cullen Baker who could help me with John Thompson of Missouri. Thompson was a Missouri ex-confederate who came into Texas and helped murder "Bushwhacker" Bill Wilson near Van Alstyne, Texas on January 24, 1869. Thompson's companion, William O. Blackmore was also convicted with Thompson for the murder and both were hung at Sherman. In the Dallas Weekly Herald of February 13, 1869, they reprinted an article from the McKinney Examiner mentioning that "a party of federals came here with a requisition for him on the charge of murder in Bowie county, and in Missouri." My question is, can someone tell me if Thompson was involved with the Cullen Baker gang or possibly would know who was murdered that Thompson would be questioned about by the officials? I'm conducting searches on the Missouri side but this notion that Thompson was being questioned about a murder in Bowie county got me thinking he may have been involved with Cullen Baker. If someone could even direct me as to who I could contact about the info, I would be grateful.
