3RD. Corporal Herndon was 48 years old when he joined Co. A, 36th Texas Cavalry March 18, 1862. He was paid $140.00 for his horse. Corporal Herndon was paid $50.00 bounty money March 22,1862 at Camp Salado TX. . Trooper Herndon was discharged July 17,1862 on a Surgeon's certificate of disability.
