He shows up on the 1870 Census for Washington Co. TX Married to wife Martha J. [Robinson] Bassett age 22, with a one year old child and two Black servant in the household. His occupation is listed as Banker. Other than the pension application, I am not aware of any military records. I will continue to look in the sites that have been given to me.
