How Do I trace Brush Battalion ?

Rebecca,

Oxford Lake. As far as I know, my book is the only one that addresses the Brush Battalion and Oxford Lake. In fact, I have not seen “Oxford Lake” mentioned in another book. The best -- only -- source for studying the Brush Battalion are THE BOURLAND PAPERS that I've studied for fifteen years. That was after I compiled two substantial books about my Bourland and Griffith families who lived up and down Red River, on both banks. About 70 percent of my 1,046-page book is from handwritten records.
.
When I was trying to locate Oxford Lake, I only found two people who had ever heard of the term -- one, Mike Wayne Thompson is a contributor to this message board and is writing a book about Alf Johnson's Spy Company. Since my first edition was published, I’ve located another man who has known about Oxford Lake since the 1930s.
.
I've put Oxford Lake info on the Internet to encourage our universities to consider doing archaeological studies in the Oxford Lake area. About 500 mounted soldiers, most of whom were deserters, were camped at Oxford Lake.
