How Do I trace Brush Battalion ?

Could someone help me on how to trace someone that was in the Brush Battalion ? I found where my GGGrandfather R.H. Tate was in the Brush Battalion. He was one of the ones that assembled at Oxford Lake, Collin Co., TX on the _ day of November 1863. It has taken me nearly 15 years to find even this much information on him. I know that he was married to Elizabeth C. Taylor and they had two children. The last of which was born in 1864. In 1869 his father Rev. John Tate passed away in Grayson/Collin County, TX and his will stated that Robert had already passed away. I have always thought that Robert was in the military & perhaps died during that time, but until today I have been unable to prove anything. Still can't prove anything.

I feel for sure that the R.H. Tate listed is my R.H. Tate because it states too that he was married to Elizabeth C.

So my question is does anyone know how I can trace the footprints of R.H. Tate to know where he went while with the Brush Battalion? Did he die while with them ? If so, where? When ? Where is he buried ?

I would appreciate any help on this and thank you so much ahead of time !!!
