The Ranger Captain that captured and returned Cynthia Ann Parker after 25 years of captivity, was the very young Lawrence Sullivan "Sul" Ross and about 60 rangers. Ross later commanded a Brigade in the Civil War, was a Sherrif, a Representative, then Governor for two terms and then he became the President of Texas A&M. Your Francis was with one of the better Ranger companies and that battle broke the back of the Comanche and started their decline in Texas. Ross is known to have killed two Indian chiefs. Big Foot in hand to hand combat. Both Ross and Earl Van Dorn of the 2nd US Cavalry were almost killed during that battle. When Ross found Cynthia Ann Parker, he killed the Chief Nacona. Cynthia's son Quanna Parker (forgive my spelling) became a great Chief of the Comanche. This unit should be in the Texas archives. His record as a Texas State Troop in the Civil War, should also be there. Some of these regiments were Federalized, so he could have a war record at the National Archives or through Mr Martin's web page that he most graciously let's us use. See the main page.
