Johnson M. James 19th Brigade Texas State Militia

Greetings:

I am interested in finding out more about a Texas Confederate Veteran. His name was Johnson M. James and he died on 9-19-1864 while serving in a unit called the 19th Brigade of Texas State Militia. I think he was in Battallion 10, if that makes any sense. I am not sure of the structure of Texas Militia troops. Private Jame enlisted in Johnson county Texas on 11-28-1861.

I can't find much about Texas Militia in general but even less about this specific unit. Captain Quill Miller and a Colonel Stone were said to be Commanders on the Land Certificate application that the widow made in 1881.

Is there anyone on the board that can tell me anything about this Unit or can tell me where to look for muster rolls?

Thanks,

Kevin Miller
