Mike; This regiment was formed in April 1864 by consolidating Border's seven company battalion and Fulcrod's four company battalions into a regiment with Anderson being named as Colonel. The consolidation occurred as a result of orders moving both units to Tyler to serve as guards at Camp Ford. On July 20, 1864, about a hundred of the men deserted en masse under the leadership of Lt. G. H. Hardeman. The balance of the regiment was then relieved and sent elsewhere.
