Stone Families of TN and TX

I have established a genealogy link between the Stone Family of Kaufman Co, TX and the Stone family of Sumner Co, TN, but have a question and have also sent a query to the webmaster of TN in Civil War. Francis "Frank" Asbury Stone came from TN about 1840 and later owned 6000 acre ranch in Kaufman Co, TX. There seems to be a mixup in records of Civil War soldier Wesley A. Stone in that he is shown in 7th TX Infantry, but no record of that unit have I found--but a soldier of same name in TN 7th Inf does have a record. I'm about to conclude there was only one Wesley A. Stone, and not two. Wesley A. Stone age 25 is on 1870 census of Kaufman Co, TX, but not in 1880. I do have info he enlisted age 17 as a resident of Lincoln Co, TN on Sept 21,1861 in Rusk Co, Marshall,TX. I haven't yet found 1850 census of either state, but would appreciate any thing you may be able to explain this problem.bob in OK
