Re: Micajah Blackwell - Twice the soldier

Micajah enrolled October 1861, six months before the first conscription act drafting men between the ages of 18-35. I suspect, because of his age, he was most likely discharged for illness, disability, debility, etc.

M. Blackwell, age 32, Private, Capt. T. W. Beaumont's Company,* joined for duty and enrolled October 24, 1861 in Dickson County by Capt. Beaumont for 12 months, discharged November 10, 1861

* This company was known at various times as Captain Beaumont's Company; and as Lieutenant Martin's Company, and Company A, 50th Regiment Tennessee Infantry

.........

Micajah Blackwell, age 33, Private, Company C, 11th Regiment Tennessee Infantry, enlisted by conscription February 4, 1863 at Shelbyville for 3 years, absent without leave April 21, 1863, deserted, recorded on the end of year, 1863 muster roll as having been captured on retreat from Tullahoma to Chattanooga July 2, 1863, "made his escape and has not returned," no further records

..........

W. J. Blackwell, age 17, Private Company C, 11th Regiment Tennessee Infantry, enlisted March 4, 1863 at Shelbyville by Capt. Green for 2 years, recorded as absent without leave since 21 April, 1863, deserted, no further records

Next and last muster roll Jan/Feb, 1864 near Dalton, Ga. As neither men were recorded present, they had not returned by this time.
