THere are following John Brooks in the CSA
1. JOhn M 2nd Tenn Cav, 2. John W 29th tenn 3. JOhn U 29th Tenn.

ther are John Brooks in the 10th Tenn Inf Unionist and 4th Cav. Unionist.

there are other John Brooks in the 3rd, 37th, and 61st tenn INf CSA which were East tennessee dudes also, but Hawkins was not listed as having a company. SOmebody who is more of an expert on Hawkins COunty units can help, but I hope you gave a start.
