Did he serve in the Civil War as a rebel or a yank? He had brothers Thomas, Lafayette, and James Etter Brooks who fought in the CW. The first two served in the Union Army from Washington Co., AR and James Etter served in the 8th TN, Union Army. John was still in TN in 1860 and married to 1st Catherine Maddox and 2nd to Mary Frances Hare. He moved to Washington Co., AR near his brothers sometime after the war. I will appreciate any help!
