I have a relative (great-great-great grandfather) - Repps Osborne Duffer (R.O. Duffer) who fought along with his brother Joseph Duffer. According to the "cards" at NARA his last card list him as deserted. His headstone however has the CSA symbol on it. I have looked through several different record groups at NARA to try and find if there is some other information on Repps out there and if he truly did desert. I would like to use his service as a supplimental for UDC but I need to be able to prove that he didn't truly desert and left with permission or came back. Is there a place/source that I should look or does someone have more information out there?
