Thanks. As the 12th was first staffed with field officers who were from Northern States and had possible a slight majority of Northerners in the ranks unlike other TN Union Cavalry, I thought that Captain Donahue might have had other Fenians in the ranks. I'm guessing that there were a few first or second generation Irish around. My understanding is that not only were the Fenians who invaded Canada composed of former Union soldiers but Confederate also. Thanks again.
